The province of Bolzano lives on fruit growing, with South Tyrol apples grown and stored by cooperatives, on wine, from Lagrein to Gewürztraminer from Tramin, on South Tyrolean speck and mountain cheeses. The Dolomites, Val Gardena, Val Badia and Merano draw tourists all year round, while the Brenner route links the area to northern Europe.
Alongside farming and tourism there is a specialised industry: ropeways, snow technology, timber construction, mechanical engineering. In all these businesses software must handle complex jobs, members’ deliveries, rooms and services, often with documents and interfaces in Italian and German.
