Greenhouses, cheese and Baroque stone
In the province of Ragusa the coastal strip between Vittoria and Ispica is covered with greenhouses, producing Pachino tomatoes PGI and Ispica early carrots PGI. On the plateau dairy cattle supply Ragusano PDO cheese, Modica makes its PGI chocolate and around Vittoria comes Cerasuolo DOCG wine. Ragusa Ibla, Modica and Scicli draw visitors.
A packhouse receives produce from dozens of greenhouses, grades it, packs it for different customers and loads it onto lorries the same evening. Software built on that rhythm connects deliveries, processing, labels and transport documents, without retyping anything between departments.
Much of the produce travels to northern Italy and Europe, by road or through the port of Pozzallo, and buyers ask for precise traceability and punctual deliveries. For Ragusa companies, often family-run but strongly export-oriented, software is what makes that precision sustainable.
