Long valleys, full seasons
The province of Sondrio is the Valtellina and the Valchiavenna. Its food carries protected names such as Bresaola della Valtellina, Bitto, Valtellina Casera and the valley’s apples, alongside wines from terraced vineyards. Tourism moves between Bormio, Livigno, Madesimo and the Valmalenco, and water feeds hydroelectric plants.
A cured meat producer has to track meat batches, curing and the documents for the protected name; a winery, terraced plots and small, valuable volumes; a hotel or a ski lift, bookings, seasonal staff and services. In every case a single system stops people chasing information between distant offices and sites.
Distances in the valley weigh: between one plant and another, or between a mountain hut and the office, it can take hours. For many Valtellina businesses a good system means working from anywhere in the province with the same up-to-date data, and coping with the winter and summer peaks.

From Modena to the Alps, when needed
