Sulcis-Iglesiente keeps the mining history of Iglesias and Carbonia and the Portovesme metallurgical site; between Santadi and the coast grows Carignano del Sulcis; the Medio Campidano produces Zafferano di Sardegna DOP saffron; the Marmilla is home to the Barumini nuraghe.
On the coasts, from Villasimius to Costa Rei, from Chia to Carloforte and Sant’Antioco, tourism lives alongside fishing.
